STEMKAMP is made possible through a $2.8 million grant from the Department of Defense in conjunction with Goshen Education Consulting, Illinois Biotechnology Innovation Organization (iBIO) and the local school districts. STEMKAMP is a five-day summer camp being at offered at 10 different military-connected schools across the United States. STEMKAMP provides fun, hands-on, immersive activities that connect problem-solving and critical thinking skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to help students explore a wide range of STEM careers. As a result, students will gain a better understanding for current STEM careers, develop basic laboratory skills, practice higher-order thinking skills, and gain the self-confidence and motivation to continue a path toward a STEM career.
Department of Defense STEM provides learning opportunities from elementary school through graduate school to inspire and cultivate a diverse pool of exceptional STEM talent. DoD programs connect STEM education in the classroom to the excitement, skills, and challenges that come with safeguarding our country. Through the DoD’s National Defense Education Program, the DoD awarded Goshen Education Consulting, Inc a $2.8 million grant to implement 10 STEMKAMP’s across the United States from 2021-2023.
Goshen Education Consulting Inc. specializes in educational data interpretation (evaluation, research and analysis) for educational organizations in Southwestern Illinois. Services range from external program evaluation and ad hoc report writing to dashboard development and at-risk student identification. In addition, Goshen Education Consulting has a long history of successful program implementations and fiscal responsibility with federal awards. Goshen Education Consulting has held subcontracts on over 80 federal projects. Further, Goshen Education Consulting frequently serves as senior personnel on projects and provides guidance for program performance as the external third-party project evaluator. In 2020, Goshen was awarded a $2.8 million grant through the Department of Defense to hold STEMKAMP’s across the United States at 10 military-connected districts.
